How to make a freezing spaghetti tomato sauce from scratch

A new type of freezing pasta sauce that is easy to make and tastes like spaghetti works is making the rounds on the internet, but not everyone loves the taste of it. 

According to a new post on the website for the UK’s National Frozen Food Council, spaghetti sauce made from frozen pasta has been accused of being an over-hyped and overpriced product. 

“The internet has been full of recipes that have been created by people with little experience, who then make it all look easy,” the council’s founder, Kate Widdowson, told the Guardian.

“It’s been made from a recipe with no nutritional value whatsoever, and that’s why it’s such a buzzword.

People are being duped into believing that this is something that’s free of all the problems that come with using frozen pasta. 

They’re not.”

According to the National Frozen Foods Council, about 10 million tonnes of frozen pasta are produced every year. 

The council’s website says that frozen pasta can be “made from whole frozen spaghetti or frozen spaghetti squash with sauce and then added to a pan, cooked over a low heat for about 30 seconds before being cooked through”.

“Once cooked through, the spaghetti sauce can be served as a sauce for soups, sauces, dips, sauces and marinades,” the website says.

“The pasta is then chilled before being served to guests.

It can be reheated and served in a bowl of spaghetti sauce or served as part of a pizza topping.” 

A few of the recipes on the council website feature ingredients that are already available in frozen pasta, but are cheaper than buying frozen pasta outright. 

For example, the recipe for spaghetti squash and tomato sauce calls for white pepper, salt, vinegar, oregano, garlic and fresh basil, but the ingredients listed on the National Food Council website are far cheaper.

The recipe for tomato sauce has just a hint of a garlic flavour, but it’s all packed in tomato paste and the ingredient list is similar to spaghetti sauce. 

Some recipes call for adding olive oil to the sauce to help thicken it up.

But the National Freeze Food Council says that if you want to make the sauce yourself, you can buy frozen spaghetti from a supermarket.

“If you’re in the market for frozen pasta then you should be buying it frozen because there’s no real risk to yourself,” Widdowson said.

“This sauce is made by hand from whole pasta and can be bought by the whole family, so there’s really no risk to your family. 

We think it’s just a great idea.” 

According.to the National Hot Sauce Council, frozen pasta is also good for you because it can be made in the microwave, microwave popcorn and by boiling pasta in boiling water.

“Frozen pasta is a great source of energy for cooking meals, as well as being a great choice for cooking dishes with a lot of flavours,” the Hot Sauce council said.

“Frozen spaghetti squash can be added to pasta sauces for a tasty, nutty, spicy sauce that’s also delicious in soups and sauces. 

 This sauce also makes great salad dressings, but in addition to being nutritious, it also helps keep dishes in place, as pasta does when you’re on the go.”

The National Hot sauce council said that most people could use this spaghetti sauce to make soup or spaghetti squash in the freezer, but some people would like to make it into a dish that tastes similar to the original spaghetti. 

If you make it yourself, be sure to put it in the fridge and keep it on the counter.

“I’d like to think that it’s really just a delicious, healthy alternative to traditional pasta,” Widowson added. 

So why does this pasta sauce sound so enticing? 

According, it’s because it’s a product that is made from scratch, but is marketed as being free of additives. 

Frozen pizza crusts, spaghetti, pasta and spaghetti squash are all made with ingredients that have never been made commercially. 

But this new sauce is being marketed as something that is free of artificial preservatives, flavourings and colourings. 

This is a very different type of product from a traditional frozen pizza crust, and if you’re going to make this sauce, make sure to keep it in a sealed container, according to the council.

“We think this is a really great idea because people want to eat it, but they don’t want to be tempted to buy a pizza crust or a spaghetti sauce,” Wodenson said, adding that the council is not endorsing the product itself.
