A run chart, sometimes referred to as a line chart, is used to visualize data over time.
Run charts are easy to produce in applications such as Microsoft Excel.
To create a run chart follow these steps:
- Reference your data collection plan to select the type of data and how often that data is collected.
- Use a spreadsheet to create a table with your times (how often your data is collected) in the first column and the data collected in the second.
- Calculate the median of the collected data. This will become the third column.
- Plot the data using a 2D line chart with the X-axis being your time scale and the Y-axis being the data collected.
