Run Chart

A run chart, sometimes referred to as a line chart, is used to visualize data over time.

Run charts are easy to produce in applications such as Microsoft Excel.

To create a run chart follow these steps:

  1. Reference your data collection plan to select the type of data and how often that data is collected.
  2. Use a spreadsheet to create a table with your times (how often your data is collected) in the first column and the data collected in the second.
  3. Calculate the median of the collected data. This will become the third column.
  4. Plot the data using a 2D line chart with the X-axis being your time scale and the Y-axis being the data collected.
